Pearls are making a big come back this year! So dust off that string of pearls hidden away at the back of the drawers they need showing off. We’ve seen them cropping up all over the cat walks in weird and wonderful ways and we have made a conscious effort at Hurleyburley to get on board, bringing you some of our new designs featuring the wonderful little magical things.
Pearls have been around forever and have lots of different beliefs and traditions attached to them. Christians and Hindus adopted the pearl as a symbol of purity. The tradition of a bride wearing pearls on her wedding day continues to this day. There is also an Ancient Greek legend thought that pearls were the tears of the gods. They also believed that wearing pearls would prevent women from crying on their wedding day.
The meaning of coloured pearls:
Blue – The wearer will find love
Black or gold – Wealth and prosperity
Pink – Success, fame, and good fortune
Brown – Practicality, masculinity, dependability, and harmony
White – Innocence, beauty, purity, and new beginnings
We have a range of different styles of earrings incorporating pearls.
We offer classic styles or some of our newer designs are a little bit more contemporary, which are in either silver, Rose or Yellow Gold.
